Ahead of the NBA Global Games 2016 at The O2 tonight which sees the Orlando Magic take on the Toronto Raptors, Olympic Bronze medallist Anthony Ogogo and Super middle-weight boxer and former British, Commonwealth and European champion George Groves spoke about their love for the NBA and their excitement for the game in London this evening.

The two boxers spent some time with the NBA mascot from the Toronto Raptors ‘The Raptor’ and treated the mascot to a session at Groves’ gym in Hammersmith.

George Groves

“I am very excited to be courtside for my first live NBA Game. You see them on TV and to be that big and mobile, in boxing sometimes the biggest guys aren’t the most nimble on their feet but the speed, power, the NBA players possess is second to none. I think the Toronto Raptors will win.”

Anthony Ogogo

“I can’t wait to come. I am a massive NBA fan, so looking forward to the NBA coming to town. Can’t wait to watch. George is in for a massive treat cause the NBA is so exhilarating, so fast, so intense, it’s an unbelievable sport. You will be impressed. The athletes are massive, they’re 6’6, 6’10, big, athletic, can move, agile, they’re just like ultimate athletes.

“My favourite team is the Miami Heat, I have been to the AA arena a few times to watch them on my trips to Miami. I love them. I’m gutted LeBron James has left, he was my favourite player, now it probably falls on Dwayne wade but I enjoy the Heat and I enjoy the NBA as a whole. I think the Orlando Magic are going to win.”

The Orlando Magic host the Toronto Raptors at The O2 in London on January 14 as part of NBA Global Games London 2016. The game is live on BT Sport 1 and BT Sport Showcase or via NBA LEAGUE PASS (www.nba.tv) and will be screened live at 31 ODEON cinemas around the country.
