Craig Docherty (27-7-1) will look to add the WBF World Super Welterweight title to his collection when facing Croydon native Chas Symonds (18-9).
Docherty vs Symonds makes the Colosseum Promotions show a WBF World title double header on April 23rd, joining the already announced WBF World Cruiserweight title fight between Nairn’s Sandy Robb and Liverpool’s Tony Moran.
Scotland’s Docherty, who is currently WBU World Super Welterweight King, is over the moon to be fighting for another version of the world title,
“I’m buzzing for this fight. I’m really up for it. Symonds’ will be coming to win and that excites me. He see’s me as a stepping stone. I see him as someone trying to stop me adding another world title to my collection. That will bring the best out of me come April 23rd”.
Docherty vs Symonds is co main event of a card that features a second world title fight in Tony Moran vs Sandy Robb as well as Sammy Hill (6-1) vs Chris Wood (3-1) for the vacant WBF International Welterweight title and Frankie Monkhouse (6-2) contesting the vacant WBF Inter-Continental Welterweight title against Manchester’s experienced Will Cairns (0-1).
The WBF have made an announcement clarifying the sanctioning procedure for bouts in the UK,
“All World Boxing Foundation title fights in Great Britain must be sanctioned through Scottish Area Rep Kenny Barr and World Boxing Foundation title fights are only authorised when the correct sanctioning agreement is filled in and filed with World Boxing Foundation President Mick Croucher”.
