The World Boxing Council have released a list of bouts they would like to see happen in 2016 featuring some of their current crop of world champions.
Topping the gathering of world class encounters is a middleweight clash between Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin.Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin.
Canelo overcame Miguel Cotto in November to place himself as the WBC’s main figurehead at 160, although did so at a catchweight of 155 pounds.
The Mexican has since asked for more time to fill out at the weight before taking on ‘GGG’ – which should see the fight happen somewhere between the end of this year and beginning of 2017, at the very latest.
Another on the agenda is a super middleweight offering between Badou Jack and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, whilst the WBC have outlined that Anthony Joshua v Bermane Stiverne at heavyweight would be a pleasing attraction.
Joshua is currently 15-0 with 15 KO’s, whilst ex-WBC title holder Stiverne is back to winning ways after losing his belt to Deontay Wilder.
Other bouts to make the cut are Wilder himself or mandatory challenger Alexander Povetkin versus Tyson Fury, plus Adonis Stevenson v Sergey Kovalev at 175.
