According to Ohio State Athletic Commission executive director Bernie Profato, the 19 year-old from Dearborn died on Tuesday following emergency surgery by doctors at a hospital in Youngstown.

Ajahmi fought a flyweight four-rounder against another Ohio boxer Anthony Taylor – who was fighting for the first time, but lost consciousness after the final bell on Saturday night.

Taylor had knocked Ajahmi down three times in the first round.

The contest took place at Saints Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Banquet Center in Youngstown and was part of a 14-fight bill.

WBN sends condolences to Ajahmi’s family at this tragic time.
