Lee, Saunders, Smith, Kelly charged up for WBO title double-header

Queensberry Promotions 18/12/2015

WBO World Middleweight Champion Andy Lee and challenger Billy Joe Saunders both hit the weight at today’s official weigh-in for their showdown tomorrow night at the Manchester Arena, live and exclusive on BoxNation.

Irishman Lee, making the first defence of his title, looked in sensational shape weighing in slightly under the limit at 11st 5lbs 12oz.

Undefeated WBO Mandatory Challenger Saunders, from Hatfield, came in bang on the 11st 6lbs limit and looked tremendous for the biggest fight of his career

Lee said, “This is it, fight time tomorrow night, all the training is done, my weight’s perfect and I’m ready for Billy Joe Saunders,”

“I’ve won this world title and I’m not letting it go, Saunders will put up a good fight, but this belt is staying with me,”

Saunders said, “All the talking is done, we’ve talked and talked for as long as i can remember, now we just need to let our fists do the talking,”

“Just a few more hours now until there’s a new WBO World Middleweight Champion of the World from Hatfield, England,”

The joint-main event on the show, WBO World Super-Welterweight Champion Liam Smith and undefeated challenger Jimmy Kelly also weighed-in.

Liverpool ace Smith was spot on the weight at 11st and looked strong for his maiden title defence against his bitter rival.

Unbeaten Manchester challenger Kelly, coming into the fight a big underdog, was just under the weight at 10st 13lbs, but he’s in the mood to cause an upset.

Smith said, “No problems at all with my weight, bang on 11st and ready to smash Kelly to bits for all his talk,”

Kelly added, “For a world title fight tomorrow night I’m pretty calm about it! I can’t wait, I’m not making any promises or threats, but upsets can happen.”
