Skoglund sure Edwards win would prove world title credentials

The Swedish light heavyweight believes a victory over the American fighter, who is the only man to beat current Swedish World Champion Badou Jack, will prove he is ready for a World title fight in 2016.

‘’I can make a big statement by beating Edwards,’’ says Skoglund. ‘’He is a fighter with a lot of experience, who is still at the top of his game and still very dangerous. He will definitely be the toughest opponent I’ve faced alongside Glen Johnson.

‘’By beating a guy like him, I can prove that I’m ready for something bigger, and I hope to challenge for a World title next year.’’

With only days to go, the 24 year-old feels fully prepared for the challenge. ‘’Everything has gone according to plan,’’ he said. ‘’I’ve had some great sparring and the perfect training camp. Things couldn’t be better. I’m looking forward to getting in the ring and claiming another memorable victory in front of my fans!’’

Skoglund’s fight with Edwards tops a blockbuster bill in Nyköping, featuring Swedish fan favourite Anthony Yigit versus former Floyd Mayweather opponent DeMarcus ‘Chop Chop’ Corley, heavyweight hope Otto Wallin against the Serbian giant Samir Kurtagic, Oscar Ahlin taking on the tough Russian Varazdat Chernikov and rising Swedish stars Sven Fornling, Hampus Henriksson and Patricia Berghult.
