Tyson Fury makes surprise visit to kids with learning difficulties

Phil Jay 10/12/2015

When a teacher at Morecambe Road School bumped into Tyson Fury on Wednesday and asked the heavyweight champion of the world if he fancied popping into the Christmas fair, little did she know that he’d actually show up.

Fury, 27, took time out from routine to call in on Thursday afternoon to pose for photos with parents and children – even taking his dog with him. According to the Lancaster Guardian, Fury spent some time at the school which specializes in helping youngsters with learning difficulties.

One of the parents who managed to get a snap with the top division king wrote on Facebook a short time later: “He was really nice taking the time to talk to a lot of the children and posing for photos, signing autographs, was there quite a while and made the children very happy indeed.”

Kids suffer from behavioral issues and other ailments that affect their ability to learn, whilst the fair itself helps raise much-needed funds to keep the school open.

It’s a side of Fury that is rarely highlighted as the WBA, WBO and IBO champion always has time for fans and media alike.

Recently though, the BBC Sports Personality of the Year nominee has been in the centre of a storm of bad press for his controversial views on some rather more sensitive subjects.

The visit came on the day when Fury was called in for a meeting with British Boxing Board of Control to explain his comments.
