Chagaev v Browne negotiations update; Mosley pitted against Lopez

Chagaev (34-2-1, 21 KO) had scheduled a defense against Fres Oquendo (37-8, 24 KO) in a rematch scheduled for before the 11 November 2015 deadline. It was not fulfilled due to an injury to the challenger and the medical report says Oquendo will not be available before May 2016. Chagaev was then ordered to fight the official challenger Browne (23-0, 20 KO), with the closing date on negotiating being the November 30, 2015.

Both sides have said they just need to finalize some details of the agreement which should be ready in the coming days. Both parties must sign the contract to avoid a purse bid.

In other news, Venezuelan Patrick Lopez will be the opponent for former champion Shane Mosley in the KO Drugs event at the Arena Roberto Duran in Panama on December 17, 2015.

The program is part of the agenda of activities for the 94th Convention of the World Boxing Association, to be held from 13 to 19 December in the Panamanian capital.

Mosley vs. Lopez (23 to 5.14 KO) will be for the International title of the WBA at 147 lbs.

The evening will also feature 115 pounds interim champion Panamanian Luis “Nica” Concepcion defending against Mexican Giovanni Segura. There will also be the interim title fight between Jezreel Corrales and Mexican Juan Antonio Rodriguez at 130, among others.
