Thomas Oosthuizen to challenge Bob Ajisafe in UK on December 5

Oosthuizen will travel to the UK to challenge title-holder Bob Ajisafe on December 5.

The South African was due to challenge Braehmer for the WBA title last weekend, but the German injured his hand and has since dropped off the radar.

With Oosthuizen said to be in the shape of his life, the Ajisafe bout at least offers him a third outing for the year. More than that, it offers him the opportunity to remind fans – and other fighters – that he remains a force in the division.

Out of sight has often been a case of out of mind, too, particularly as it has been a number of years since Oosthuizen was at his fast, explosive best. Fighting in England, before a discerning audience, is the perfect time for him to show what he can do.

Ajisafe (16-2) is ranked second in Britain and is unbeaten in the past five years, his best wins having come against Dean Francis and Matty Clarkson.

Promoter Rodney Berman also confirmed on Friday that Xolisani Ndongeni would fight on a Banner Promotions’ bill at Turning Stone Casino in Verona, central New York State, in February. He says he will have an additional two co-promotions with Art Pelullo in the US in 2016.

In laying out plans for 2016, Berman also said he would promote five tournaments at Emperors Palace, three of them world championship events.

The first will take place on January 31 with another “Prospects at the Palace” event, following the success of the first recently held.

Golden Gloves is also negotiating for a return to Monte Carlo in 2016, ensuring it will be a very busy 12 months to come.
