Junior welterweight contender Amir “The Young Master” Imam (18-0, 15KOs) is possibly one fight away from a world title opportunity.
The World Boxing Council has already ordered newly crowned WBC champion Viktor “The Iceman” Postol (28-0, 12KOs) to make a mandatory defense against Imam.
“He’s scheduled to fight on the 28th of November. I think it’s going to be in Quebec. The opponent is still to be announced. This is like a tuneup fight, but we’re taking it very seriously. And after that the WBC has mandated that Viktor Postol, the newly crowned WBC champion, will defend his title against Amir Iman in early next year,” says Stacy McKinley.
“We’re taking this fight [in November] seriously because if anything goes wrong, then it gets us out of the championship fight. This is basically a tune-up fight, but we trained hard, we’re ready to go and then we’ll wait for the championship fight.”
