Tewkesbury light middleweight Adam Harper aims to be the first man from the town ever to win a professional title.
‘Hurricane’ Harper aims to extend his record to 4-0 as he takes on Lewis Van Poetsch for the British Challenge Belt at Hatherley Manor Hotel on Friday, 20th November.
“It means the world to me to bring home Tewkesbury’s first ever pro title”
he told www.uko-boxing.com “It’s been six weeks since my last fight and I’ve stayed in the gym ever since; I’m more focused than I’ve ever been”
“I never worry or doubt my fitness and conditioning! I’m the most hardworking man in any gym.
“If I had it my way, I would fight the old school style in big 15-rounders.”
Harper combines boxing with his passion for fitness and education. The 27 year-old organises fitness programmes for youngsters and also works in a pupil referral unit, aimed at helping less fortunate teenagers in education.
“It’s not an easy job, but it’s good to show kids that you can achieve anything if you work hard enough,” he added. “I’m passionate about what I do and I realise that, as a professional sportsman, I am a role model to youngsters and my supporters.
“My fans mean the world to me. They come out in their hundreds and spend their hard earned cash to watch me fight.
“They are the loud and proud. And on 20th November, I aim to give them something to shout about.”
Also on the Western Country Boxing show ‘To The Manor Born’ are Bristol light welterweight, Kane Stewart, Worcester lightweight, Michael Mooney, and West Bromwich light middleweight, Tom Stokes.
