Willis Meehan moved to 4-0 with ease last week, but his New Zealand fight with Leamy Lakopo Tato has gone viral due to the way the one-sided bout ended.
The 20 year-old heavyweight was in complete control of the contest throughout and by the second round and was teeing off on Tato at will. Meehan, the son of veteran fighter Kali Meehan, then unleashed an almighty combination of shots, all to the head, and referee David Craig seemed to freeze on the spot.
Following three or four more massive punches, Meehan turned to Craig angrily and stated: ‘Stop the f***ing fight’ – just as the official finally put Tato out of his misery.
As Tato stumbled across the ring, Meehan sportingly embraced his opponent as a blood-splattered camera followed the pair, before the up and comer proceeded to give the ref another verbal bashing.
The former rugby player is due back in action on November 11 when southpaw Meehan fights on the high-profile Anthony Mundine v Charles Hatley bill in Melbourne.
