No change for Prichard Colon as investigation opens

Colon suffered a bleed on the brain as a result of the Premier Boxing Champions fight in which eventual victor Williams was docked a point for rabbit punching, and remains in an induced coma at Inova Fairfax Hospital in the city.

Referee Joe Cooper has been roundly criticised for his handling of the fight as the authorities now attempt to piece together exactly how the 23 year-old previously unbeaten Colon ended up having emergency surgery and fighting for his life.

According the latest family update, there is little change since earlier in the week as Colon shows some glimpses of brain activity that keep the boxing world hoping that the talented and likeable young man will pull through.

“Today in conversation with the mother of Prichard Colón we were informed that their son is still in the same condition. Prichard remains in a coma, stable and responding to various neurological stimulations.

“We are immensely grateful for the prayers and concerns for our son and our family. There have been no changes, if any, they shall be communicated immediately.”
