Jose Ramirez to fight for fringe WBC belt on December 5

A win will give Ramirez a Top-15 world rating and put him into a position to be a top contender. Champions including Evander Holyfield and Roy Jones and many other superstars have held the WBC Continental Americas belt.

The Save Mart Center is one of the most prestigious arenas in America according to ‘Venues Today,’ a leading trade publication that listed Save Mart Arena among its ‘Top Stops’ for venues in the 10,000 to 15,000 categories. The venue came in as the No 1 ranked collegiate venue and No. 4 in the United States and No. 12 in the world based on concert grosses. Save Mart Center was one of seven SMG-managed arenas to rank in the Top 10 in this size category.

“I feel honored and thankful for the opportunity given to me and I will do my best to give my greatest performance on December 5,” said Ramirez.

“Like Rick Mirigian says Jose Ramirez speaks softly outside the ring but fights with all of his heart and always gives it his all inside the ring,” said Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank. “This exciting event will help Jose Ramirez get one step closer to his ultimate goal, to win a world championship.”

WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman said, “The WBC is honored to be part of this great event in which one of the greatest prospects in recent history tries to conquer the WBC Continental Americas Championship. This same belt has served as a platform to rise to the WBC world championship for legendary champions such as Evander Holyfield, Roy Jones, Ricardo Lopez, Julian Jackson, Jermain Taylor and many more. This is another step towards conquering the dream of all champions, to win the Green Belt of the WBC. Jose Ramirez is a role model inside and outside of the ring and the WBC feels proud to support his efforts to becoming a champion and will always be in his corner.”

“The future is now and this special once in a generation fighter will be focused, prepared and ready for the next step of his career and continue to shatter box office records as he grows and becomes a champion inside and out of the ring,” said promoter-agent Rick Mirigian.

The big fight card will be televised nationally on Top Rank’s Solo Boxeo Tecate on UniMas.
