Former world champion Koki Kameda has informed WBN that he believes his brother Tomoki deserves a third clash with Jamie McDonnell after sharing 24 rounds with the Briton in 2015.

Tomoki, 24, lost unanimously in May and September on Al Haymon’s Premier Boxing Champions when challenging the WBA bantamweight title currently in McDonnell’s possession.

However, Koki says his younger sibling got wrongly judged in both Texas bouts.

“I think Tomoki won both two fights, but the result was given against him that can’t be helped. I can’t do anything about it,” Koki exclusively told World Boxing News.

“Tomoki is strong and he will come back, absolutely. He is only 24 years old and some boxers become stronger with the experience of some of their frustrations.

“If I were a boxing fan, I would want to see Tomoki fight Jamie McDonnell for a third time,” he added.

Koki himself lost over the weekend for only the second time in his career against eight-loss world title holder Kohei Kono and is seriously considering whether or not to return to the sport.

At just 28 years of age, Kameda has retirement on his mind. However, he has plenty of time to make a comeback – rather than making any snap decisions.
