De La Hoya: Lemieux KO’s Golovkin, an easier win than N’Dam

Lemieux, who holds the IBF version if the 160 pound title, faces IBO and WBA champion Golovkin at Madison Square Garden in an eagerly-anticipated pay-per-view clash and De La Hoya is sure the Canadian can be the opponent to halt the ‘GGG’ express train.

“Everyone is so accustomed to seeing Golovkin be a forward and aggressive boxer, but I don’t think he will do that with David. David will put the pressure on him and it will be an advantage for David,” said De La Hoya.

“This time, Golovkin will be in front of David for David to land his big punches. I believe it is going to be easier than N’Dam because of his style. N’Dam was a long range fighter and was using his distance and I believe David will knock out Golovkin.

“GGG has not faced a strong fighter and a smart fighter like David Lemieux in his career,” added the Golden Boy President.

Golovkin, 33, is a heavy favourite over his 26 year-old counterpart, although it could be debated that Lemieux is his toughest test yet in what is rightly being bill as a power versus power affair.

Golovkin vs. Lemieux takes place Saturday, October 17 from Madison Square Garden and will be produced and distributed live on HBO Pay-Per-View beginning at 9:00 p.m. ET/6:00 p.m. PT. The fight is live on BoxNation in the UK. To subscribe click BoxNation
