Top Brazilian contender Patrick Teixeira is gearing up for what will be his 26th professional fight on Friday night as the prospect fights Don Mouton on the latest installment of Golden Boy’s LA Fight Club.

The 24 year-old has won all of his contests so far, 21 by knockout, and has been preparing with world title challenger Lucas Matthysse ahead of the Argentines bid for the WBC crown against Viktor Postol on Saturday.

WBN caught up with Teixeira in the build-up to the fight as the southpaw eyes another standout performance.

“It feels great to be part of another LA Fight Club and I love coming to the U.S. I feel as a fighter you always get more exposure,” Teixeira told World Boxing News.

“I have had a great training camp in Argentina, part of Lucas Matthysse’s training, and we worked on power and speed. I feel very prepared for Friday and I am expecting an exciting fight for all the fans.”

With just one previous fight behind him in 2015, Teixeira was asked if he would have liked to have been more active, to which he replied: “No. I like staying busy, but at the same time we have to be smart about when to fight as I want to make sure I am ready and healthy to fight.

“After this fight, I think that a title is something we will pursue next. It’s an exciting time in the middleweight division and you have major title unifications happening this year.

“I feel like the momentum will not let up, and I am excited to be part of that new wave of middleweight fighters,” he added.

Teixeira v Mouton happens at the Belasco Theater this Friday night. Tickets, starting at $20 are available for purchase online at www.goldenboypromotions.com or by visiting the Golden Boy Promotions Facebook page. For ticket information, email LAFightClub@goldenboypromotions.com.
