At the end of the week sparring session, Jorge Paez injured his right hand and is unable to face Ramon Alvarez. His place was taken by dangerous veteran African Ben Tackie for the fight on October 10 at Mexico City Arena.

Alvarex v Tackie will be the main event that will be transmited by Box Azteca over twelve rounds in the junior middleweight division and carry the WBC International belt.

Paez was involved in an intense session of sparring in the gym with Erik Morales, and after throwing an overhand right to the forehead of his sparring partner, immediately felt an intense pain in his knuckles. There was immediate inflammation on his knuckles.

It was checked by his doctor and was diagnosed that the third metacarpal was badly hurt, which needs rest and therapy over several days.

¨I am very surprised by this unexpected situation as it was the last week of intense training and the right that hit the front of my sparring partner was what caused me injury,” said Paez. “The bout against Ramon was a great opportunity for both of us, but I already asked if we can set a new date.”

Zanfer company moved quickly to find a substitute opponent and chose the experienced and dangerous Ben Tackie.

Tackie has fought for the world title and has faced the best in the division. He has faced rivals like Kostya Tszyu, John Molina, Ricky and Matthew Hatton, Sharmba Mitchell, Juan Lazcano, Kendall Holt, Henry Bruseles and Alfonso Gomez.

After being out for years, Tackie won his last fight.
