Kazuto Ioka retained his crown 112 pounds of the World Boxing Association with a one-sided win on Sunday in Osaka.
The Japanese fighter needed to go the full distance with the Argentine challenger Roberto Sosa in order to complete the win as the cards read 119-109, 120-108, 119-109 in favor of the champion – who dominated the action.
Although the Argentine Sosa (26-3-1, 14 KO) did everything he had in his power to thwart Ioka and dethrone him, he failed to break the rhythm of the fight and prevent the title holder keeping his title.
Ioka (17-1, 10 KO) now returns to the ring on December 31, the traditional evening of New Year’s Eve, when he will be measured in a revenge battle by another Argentine Juan Carlos Reveco, whom he dethroned last June.
Meanwhile, Reveco (36-2, 19 KO) while awaiting the outcome of the fight between Ioka vs. Sosa, defeated Venezuelan Breilor Teran over ten rounds 100-90, 99-91, 100-90.
