Thomas Kindon forced to withdraw from October contest

The 20-year-old caught a virus a few weeks ago that affected his training and fight preparations to the point where the decision had to be made to pull out from the forthcoming fight scheduled for the first weekend in October at the Metropole Hotel in Brighton.

The Guildford City Gym student commented, “I went for a late night run and it was a bit wet and windy, and the next morning I woke up and was sick.

“I got a virus and a cough that I couldn’t get rid of, I was ill for three weeks. The doctors gave me an asthma pump and I lost a stone in weight.”

122-pounder was due to fight on October 2nd at The Metropole Hotel in Brighton in what would have been his sixth contest on a talent-packed Crusader Events show headlined by Frank Warren’s unbeaten prospect Lloyd Ellett (17-0).

“We didn’t know if we was going to pull out,” explained Kindon. “I had a week off and expected to be back but I just kept losing weight and I didn’t have anything in me. I tried a training session on Wednesday but I was goosed.”

Now back in training, Kindon has fortunately got another date to prepare for, he clarified, “I’m boxing November 21st at York Hall on a Goodwin Promotions show. It’ll be a four rounder, I did want it to be a six but it’s not to be.

“We’ve only just found out that I’m on the show, I’ve never boxed at the York Hall before, even as an amateur, it’s a famous venue and I’m looking forward to it.”

Of his current state of mind and fitness right now, the ‘Pocket Rocket’ enthused, “I feel alright now, I’ve still got my cough but I’m training lightly and getting back into it.”

Kindon’s team consisting of father Kazy, coach Johnny Edwards, and manager Mikey Balingall are all expecting big support on the night.

“Hopefully I’ll have a lot of fans coming as it’s closer than normal so should have a lot of support on the night,” said the 5ft 4” prospect.

A six-time national amateur champion, Kindon raced to four fights unbeaten since making his pro bow in June 2014, scalping Francis Croes (1-28) on his debut and Anwar Alfadli (2-44-4), Dmitrijs Gutmans (2-1), Sergejs Logins (7-2-1) and Darren Pryce (0-8-2) along the way, respectively.

The latest victory over Welshman, Darren Pryce was the second stoppage win on his record and placed Kindon at 11th in the British super-bantamweight rankings edging the young talent closer to silverware in the near future.

Headlining the show will be Jamaican-born Lawrence ‘Bad Boy’ Bennett (7-1) putting his Southern Area cruiserweight title on the line against Goodwin Promotion’s newest recruit Wadi ‘Macho-man’ Camacho (12-5).

The undercard features a total of 14 exciting unbeaten prospects in Paul Upton (8-0), Anthony Upton (10-0), Robin Dupre (8-0), Matthew Chanda (4-0), Robert Asagba (3-0), Michael Peart (2-0), Ollie Pinnock (2-0), Joshua Nelson (1-0), Joe McCory (1-0), Ryan Davies (7-0), Eli Green (6-0), Mieley Lee (1-0), and Andrew Joicey (2-0).

Aji Sharif (4-2), Remel Scott (2-2), Brent Osbourne (0-1), and Dalton Miller (3-6) all take part in four round contests.

Two debutants complete the line up in Romford cruiserweight Mark Little and 21-year-old welterweight Jason Veares from Colchester.
