With a message on social networks released last week, the Venezuelan challenger Ismael Barroso said he already has signed the contract to fight interim WBA lightweight champion Derry Mathews next on November 14 in England.
The papers are already signed in the office of the AMB, and the fighters are officially awaiting the official announcement date.
“I thank God already signed my contract next fight will be in England. I thank you for the opportunity they gave me,” Barroso said.
Mathews added: “I’m glad he’s happy to face me and I wish him the best of luck in his camp. “
Both men said they are doing their preparation well and be ready to give a great fight.
“Just waiting for the day comes, I assure all the people who have trusted me that I will not fail them and will give a great show. I will win somehow for Venezuela,” stressed Barroso.
Mathews concluded by saying “I cannot wait for the day of the fight. Good luck!”
The interim title holder won the strap on April 18, 2015 when he won a unanimous decision over Tony Luis in a fight held in Liverpool, England. This will be the first defense of his crown.
For his part, Barroso will challenge for the first time in search of a universal crown and he is currently second rated in the lightweight division.
