Black Country Boxing and UKO Boxing have teamed up with Big Centre TV to deliver a monthly boxing programme.

The show, which is filmed on location at Wednesbury Boxing Academy, will profile a host of Black Country fighters within Errol Johnson’s boxing stable.

UKO Boxing TV, in association with Black Country Boxing, will be aired at 9:30pm one Friday per month on Big Centre TV – Freeview Channel 8, Virgin Media Channel 159 and online at www.bigcentre.tv.

“It’s really exciting,” explained Errol Johnson. “It’s great that my fighters will get regular television exposure and we are looking forward to forging strong links with Big Centre TV. It’s a fantastic output for local news and sports and we are delighted to be a part of the channel.”

“We are really looking forward to this project,” added Head of Sport at Big Centre TV, Gary James. “We’ve covered a number of boxing events since the channel launched and we are delighted to be able to promote local boxers.”

The show is fronted by Press Association’s Boxing Correspondent, Phil Barnett. Phil has travelled worldwide covering the sport and covered some of the biggest fights involving British boxers including Ricky Hatton, David Haye and Amir Khan. He has been ringside at numerous world title fights including Haye vs. Valuev, Froch vs. Groves, Calzaghe vs. Lacy and Chisora vs. Klitschko.

“Midlands boxing is buzzing and all of the local fighters are great lads who I can’t wait to work with,” he explained. “UKO Boxing TV is an exciting project and one that will help promote boxing in the area.”

The first episode of UKO Boxing TV (image attached) was filmed earlier this week with Halesowen middleweight prospect, Lennox Clarke, West Bromwich Heavyweight, Matt Gordon and trainer, Paul Mann. Lennox previewed his upcoming Midlands Area Middleweight Title clash with Craig Cunningham at the Barclay Card Arena on Saturday, 17th October whilst Matt looked ahead to his second professional fight at Walsall Town Hall on Saturday, 3rd October.

The show will air next Friday, 25th September at 9.00pm on Big Centre TV – Freeview Channel 8, Virgin Media Channel 159 and online at www.bigcentre.tv.
