Matt Seden v Will Young III set for October 31

“Both fighters have signed for the fight and I’m awaiting ANBF approval to sanction it for the vacant Australian super featherweight title,” Brendon Smith said.

“They’ve already fought twice and twice they brought the house down and I have no doubt they will do the same thing on October 31.

“Styles make fights and these two are made for each other.

“Matt has two wins over Will and this is a match up that’s been in the making for some time.

“Both boys have just had different commitments but now they’re two highly rated boxers in their divisions they both want the Australian title and they need to go through each other to get it.

Will Young is excited about the opportunity.

“This bout has a lot of appeal to me,” Will Young said.

“The two losses to Matt Seden don’t sit well with me.

“Taking nothing away from Matt he deserved the two wins but I know I can beat him and it’s something I’ve always wanted to prove.

“Plus it’s no secret to anyone how much the Australian title means to me.

“To have the chance to be a two division Aussie champ is something that would mean the World to me.

“The Aussie title is like a World title to me.

“Matt Seden will be a big challenge but I’m confident I can win this fight,” Young said.

The announcement is great news for Toowoomba fight fans, Young has one of the largest supporter bases in the Garden City.

He’s had 9 career bouts and all 9 have been here on the Smithy Brings the Big fights cards.

He’s quickly becoming Toowoomba’s favourite son.

Since defeating Will Young for the Queensland title in 2013 Matt Seden has won State WBC muay thai title and is the number one contender for the National belt.

“Matt is hoping to follow in the footsteps of the likes of Ben Edwards and Peter Graham by dominating in more than one style of combat sport and he is well on the way to achieving that,”Matt Seden’s trainer, Ben Johnston said.

“This is a great opportunity for Matt to add an Australian boxing title to his resume.

“He’s beaten Will twice so we know he can do it a third time.”

More exciting announcements about the October 31 card Smithy & TGW Bring the Big Fights 11 will be made in the coming weeks including another big challenge for the Herminator Herman Ene Purcell.
