A November 21 fight between WBO super middleweight champion Arthur Abraham and Martin Murray is one of those currently being considered by the German’s promoter Kalle Sauerland.
Abraham, 35, was announced to be returning on the date this week as ‘King’ Arthur makes the sixth defence of his title in his second spell and Sauerland is now considering a list of names for the Hannover clash.
Former world title challenger Murray is among the contenders in line to challenge the experienced Abraham after moving up from 160 pounds and scoring three straight victories since his debut at the weight in June.
“Martin Murray has had some good results recently and his name is on the list,” Sauerland confirmed to World Boxing News this week.
On the fight itself, Sauerland added: “I like the fight, as does Arthur, but at the end it will come down to our TV partner as well when we go through our ’shortlist’ of fighters.
“We will always try to make the best fights for the fans and this is one that, of course, would make the fans lick their lips.”
Recent wins over Robert Stieglitz, Paul Smith and Nikola Sjekloca have attributed to an undefeated streak stretching back to March 2013 for Abraham, who has kept considerably busy despite being in the veteran stage of his career.
Seven victories in just over two years have pushed Abraham into the top 20 of the WBN Pound for Pound list and placed the former Super-Six participant as one of the most feared operators at the weight.
