Two of the Black Country’s most promising prospects have been helping each other prepare for the biggest fights of their respective careers.

Halesowen middleweight, Lennox Clarke, and Dudley light middleweight, Ryan Aston, have enjoyed a number of competitive sparring sessions as they step up personal preparations ahead of their October showdowns.

Clarke challenges Midlands Area champion, Craig Cunningham, for his strap on Matchroom’s ‘Battle of Brum’ show at the Barclay Card Arena on Saturday, 17th October whilst Aston takes on Nathan Graham in an English Title Eliminator at the Wolverhampton Civic two weeks earlier.

Their individual styles are similar to the foes they face and both are delighted to be working together and helping each other prepare.

“I’ve been in camp for five weeks already and I’m feeling good,” Aston told www.uko-boximng.com. “Lennox is the ideal sparring partner for me. Graham is relatively the same height but not as strong.

“Lennox is a big puncher and I want to spar with guys who can bang so I can take those shots; take that pressure. That way, I’ll be conditioned for what Graham has to offer.

“In the same way, Lennox has got a southpaw in Craig Cunningham, so I fit his requirements too. Len’s looking sharp and fit. It’s good that we can help each other reach our goals.”

“It’s been really useful to spar Ryan,” added Clarke. “He’s a good boxer with a good boxing brain.

“Being a southpaw helps because he has a similar stance to Cunningham. He keeps me on my toes and we’re at similar stages in our camp, so the spars are competitive.

“I’ve just come back from a two-week warm weather camp in Tenerife and I’m making sure no stone is left unturned for this one. It’s a massive opportunity for me to win a Midlands Title and impress on a massive Matchroom show.”
