Jack prepares to defend his WBC super middleweight title against Groves on the Floyd Mayweather v Andre Berto undercard in Las Vegas this weekend and has promised to make it three defeats in a row for ‘The Saint’ in world title bouts.
“Groves is absolutely not in my head. I’m focused and mentally strong on my task at hand. I won my biggest fight that I’ve had up to date, he didn’t. He has had two shots at the title and has lost them both,” pointed out Jack.
“Groves got famous for getting knocked out by Carl Froch. He’s a good fighter, but I’m very comfortable that I’m going to beat him. I just stay focused on what I have to do. No one is getting under my skin.
“He’s a very good fighter. Carl Froch is also a very good fighter and he came up short. But, things happen in boxing. You get hit with a good shot and that’s it.
“But I’m a different fighter from Carl Froch. I have more hand speed. I’m a very technical fighter, in my opinion. But I’m not taking anything away from Carl Froch. He’s a very great fighter. He’s a legend. But this is a different fight. So, yes, I’m ready to go.
“Honestly, I think this fight could steal the show and will be the fight of the night. This will be very, very entertaining.
“This is my first defense and I’m very excited about it, but I have always maintained an underdog mentality, and that will never change. I’m trying to stay humble. I’m still the same guy but by becoming a world champion it has only made me work even harder.
“I’m still learning, working hard. I know I can’t look past anyone. There are a lot of potential really big fights in the future – and I want to fight the best no matter if it is GGG, Andre Ward, whoever.
“But right now my only focus is on the game plan and executing it. I’m really looking forward to fighting [George] Groves and winning on Sept. 12.”
