Paul Holt signs with Errol Johnson, headlines Walsall on October 3

UKO Boxing 10/09/2015

New signing Paul ‘The Incredible’ Holt is looking forward to working with manager Errol Johnson.

The 24 year-old featherweight joined Johnson’s growing stable just last week and immediately headlines Black Country Boxing’s ‘The Avengers’ show at the Town Hall in Walsall on Saturday, 3rd October.

Holt revealed he almost signed for the Wednesbury-based manager when he first turned over in 2013 and is looking to make up for lost time under Johnson’s guidance.

“I first met Errol when I was an amateur and was contemplating going pro,” the 24 year-old featherweight told www.uko-boxing.com. “My dad took me to Errol’s gym and I sparred a few of his lads to get me used to the pro style, which I was suited to anyway.

“I went to join the Royal Navy and got injured during training so I had to come back and that’s when I joined Mark Wall, which I probably rushed into, but things happen for a reason.

“I’ve spoken to a couple of managers and Errol seems like the right guy to go with. He has got his boxers best interest at heart and some of his pro boxers, the likes of Martin Gethin, Jason Welborn, Lee Glover and now Lennox Clarke, have all done well under him.

“I’m really excited about boxing at Walsall it’s been a while since I last boxed (in June). Headlining the bill is just an added bonus and I can’t thank Errol enough.”

Holt takes on Swindon’s Joe Beeden over six rounds as he looks to make a winning start to life under the Black Country Boxing banner.

Tickets, priced at £30 and £60 Ringside, are available from Walsall Town Hall Box Office on 0845 111 2900.

Also in action on ‘The Avengers’ is Wolverhampton welterweight, Sid Bowater who takes on veteran Londoner, Frankie Greeves.

Undefeated West Bromwich middleweight, Tom Stokes, makes a welcome return to action when he steps in with Hull’s Luke Allon.

West Bromwich pair – heavyweight, Matt Gordon, and super featherweight, Jack Summers – take on Poland’s Kamil Sokoloski and Leeds’ Russ Midgeley respectively.

Completing ‘The Avengers’ line-up are debutants Luke Walker and Leon Brown. Birmingham light middleweight Walker takes on Yeovil’s Bryn Wain whilst Wolverhampton light heavyweight, Brown, debuts against fellow Hull’s, Andy Neylon, who turns over himself this month.
