Ex-WBO title holder Briggs, who himself returns to action this weekend against Michael Marrone, has been dogging ‘Dr. Steelhammer’ for months in order to gain a shot at the top division crown, which includes throwing shoes and food at Klitschko in the past.
This time around, it seemed that ‘The Cannon’ was at ease and nothing too feisty would unfold until Klitschko jokingly stroked Briggs’ beard.
Briggs had already attempted to feel Klitschko’s muscles prior to the retaliation and the American then grabbed a handful of the champion’s shirt for good measure.
Retired fighter Michael Moorer was forced to step in to separate the pair as Briggs pleaded with Klitschko to give him a chance if they both win their respective contests.
Klitschko would only state: “Win tomorrow night and we will talk,” as the WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO belt holder has mandatory obligations almost every fight these days.
