Cut forces Lee v Saunders off October 10 bill

Lee v Saunders was originally scheduled to take place in Ireland on September 19 but was delayed until October 10 and switched to Manchester when the champion suffered a slight injury.

This time around it’s the challenger who has the problem as Saunders has been cut during his preparations for the contest and needs more time to recover in order to participate in his biggest career bout to date.

Promoter Frank Warren is looking at rescheduling the fight in November.

The rest of the ‘World War III’ bill, including WBO title fights Terry Flanagan v Diego Magdaleno and John Thompson v Liam Smith, will go ahead as planned next month at Manchester Arena.
