Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach prefers American Danny Garcia over British Amir Khan as Manny Pacquiao’s comeback foe for early-2016.
As Top Rank chief Bob Arum begins the arduous task of finding an ideal dance partner for Pacquiao, Roach told boxingscene that Garcia, who has a 31-0 record with 18 KOs, is the more attractive option as he is “exciting.”
“He (Garcia) looks for knockouts and I like his style (for Pacquiao),” said Roach during the first leg of the press tour of the Canelo Alvarez vs Miguel Cotto super fight in Los Angeles.
“(That’s a) great matchup,” said Roach, who wasn’t so sold about Pacquiao facing former spar-mate Khan as they have similar styles.
“(That) might be a little bit boring…(but) Danny Garcia looks good to fight,” added Roach.
