IBF: No Chaves or Bradley request for Brook

Brook had been rumoured to be in talks with WBO title holder Timothy Bradley for a potential unification in the next couple of months, although stronger suggestions were that Argentinian Diego Chaves would be in the opposite corner for a Sheffield defence.

Neither of those contests have been officially put forward to the International Boxing Federation by Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn as yet though, with the clock ticking for Brook to make his expected date of October 26.

“There was talk Kell Brook fighting Diego Chaves last month but I never received an official request or signed contracts for the fight,” IBF Chairman Lindsey Tucker exclusively told World Boxing News.

“It’s the same regarding Timothy Bradley. I also heard Brook was looking to fight Bradley, but I don’t have an official request for anyone yet from his promoter.”

Brook, 29, wanted to set-up a massive clash with Amir Khan at Wembley Stadium, initially, and despite the Olympic silver medallist missing out on facing Floyd Mayweather, any talks have been put on hold until next year at the earliest.

‘The Special One’ has few options open to him to face one of the bigger names in the division as many of the big players are firmly against travelling to the UK to challenge Brook in his own backyard.
