American press and the world joined to attend the third big press conference of the WBC middleweight world champion, Miguel Cotto, and the former world champion, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez in New York.
It’s all part of the build-up to their blockbuster clash of November 21st at the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas, USA. Another drop of effervescence in the simmering fisticuff rivalry between Mexico and Puerto Rico.
Cotto´s popular trainer, American Freddie Roach commented: “After I saw Cotto crushing ‘Maravilla’ Martínez, I was convinced that would also happen to Alvarez. Miguel will beat him, and he must knock him out. Miguel is a predator, a puncher that doesn’t allow his victims to escape. He has a killer instinct inside the ring”.
Mexican Eddie Reynoso, trainer of “Canelo”, also had something to say: “ We know that the winner will be Saul. I have followed Cotto´s career and I will say he was a great fight at 140 pounds. But in this division he won’t be able to handle Saul’s strength. I admire and respect Roach, but this time we will be the winners.”
“Canelo” stated: “ I am happy having this fight after all the negotiations. I am sure I will get the victory over one of the best fighters in the entire world. He won’t stop me.”
