Klassen calls out Commey for African showdown

A war is brewing with two English-based African’s, as former World Champion Malcolm Klassen, is chasing a showdown with undefeated Ghanian Richard Commey in a clash that sounds mouth watering to the boxing purist.

Commey has fought on British shores on numerous occasions, defeating well known Gary Buckland last year for the Commonwealth Lightweight title. Commey who currently holds the IBF Intercontinental Lightweight title, is a fighter who has arguably been avoided by many top lightweights around and has seeked out new challenges under the stewardship of the Sauerlands.

That challenge has appeared to arrived in the form of former IBF World Champion Malcolm Klassen. Klassen now trained by Johnney Roye, has mixed it with the best in the business including Robert Guerrero appears to be the man willing to step up and give the undefeated, big punching Commey, a real world class test. Klassen has proven credentials and seems to be a fighter back in form, dispatching Xolani Mcotheli and Paulus Moses this calendar year.

Klassen took to Twitter to call out Commey, “As they say if you want to be the best you must fight the best, so Richard Commey lets lace them gloves on and see who is the best”. The Commey team have responded already stating there interest in getting the fight on, a fight that could well happen here in the UK.

I’m sure boxing fans would be excited at the prospect of a Klassen vs Commey clash on UK shores and it would be an absolute barnstormer on any show in the UK. Lets hope it happens!
