Tarver: Wilder opponents handpicked, a serious punch gives him problems

The 46 year-old is hoping victory over ex-cruiserweight title holder Cunningham leads to a shot at Wladimir Klitschko in early 2016, but could also face Wilder in the future and says the ‘Bronze Bomber’ has a serious floor to his game.

“Anybody with a serious punch can give Wilder problems,” Tarver exclusively told World Boxing News ahead of his fight on Premier Boxing Champions.

“Wilder makes a lot of mistakes in the ring. We know his opponents have been handpicked. I was impressed when he won the title but not in his last fight.

“He has a lot of holes in his game. Anybody who can punch will give him problems with his chin. He has the look of a star but his chin can’t take good punches.”

‘The Magic Man’ is currently enjoying a six-year unbeaten run stretching back to two losses against Chad Dawson and fully believes he has what it takes to dethrone Wilder, or even formidable Ukrainian Klitschko given the chance.

It all starts tonight when Tarver faces tough scrapper Cunningham, as the winner will be in a great position to fight for a championship in the next six months.
