A mouth-watering domestic dust-up between Merseyside rivals Callum Smith and Rocky Fielding will now take place sometime in November, the British Boxing Board of Control have announced.
The fight for the vacant British super middleweight title previously held by Callum’s older brother Paul was originally due to go ahead on September 26 at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, although according to the latest BBBofC announcement, the clash has been pushed back but with no change in the venue.
On October 17 in Birmingham, impressive super flyweight contender Kal Yafai will get the chance to win a first major title when the former amateur star faces Jason Cunningham.
Yafai will fight for the Lonsdale belt recently left behind by ex-world champion Paul Butler at the Barclaycard Arena in his hometown and would mean opponent Cunningham drops down from his long and successful stint at bantamweight.
Finally, the European title defence by David Coldwell-trained Gavin McDonnell has been pushed back after recently being eyed for early September.
McDonnell is set to put his belt on the line for the first time since claiming the championship against Oleksandr Yegorov in March, with the Matchroom-promoted clash against former Carl Frampton foe Jeremy Parodi now taking place on October 24 in Sheffield.
