Donfack, making his second defense of the title he won in May 2014 with a stoppage of Argentinean Javier Alberto Mamani, seemed unaffected by fighting in hostile territory, and was dangerous throughout the entire bout, but Brand was always one step ahead in an almost flawless performance.
The challenger outclassed, outworked and out-thought his foe in more or less every round, and, while Donfack came to fight and do everything in his power to hold on to his crown, Brand was just a level above in every department on the night.
South African judge Clifford Mbelo scored the fight a 120-108 shut-out, and judges Sergio Sotelo from Mexico and Jorge Falco from Argentina both had it 119-109, giving Donfack one round on their cards. Referee in control of the action was Colombian Manuel Rodriguez Soler.
With WBF President Howard Goldberg supervising from ringside, the new World Super Middleweight Champion improved his impressive record to 24-1 (19), his sole defeat a disputed decision against current WBC ruler Badou Jack, while Donfack travels back to Berlin at 22-12-3 (11).
