Jamie Kavanagh’s move to MGM made official; Jake Hanney also added

MGM are delighted to announce that Jamie Kavanagh will be joining their ever growing stable. Jamie has close links with MGM and since moving back to the UK from the US it has been rumoured that he would be joining Team MGM.

After an impressive pro career Stateside with a record of 18-1-1, Kavanagh is now looking to make a name for himself in Europe. And he has chosen MGM to lead the way.

“I am very grateful for the opportunity to push my career in the right direction; they are very open and willing to help. All my career has been in the USA and UK and Irish boxing is different, so I need a help in the right direction,” said Kavanagh.

Jamie is training with Mark and Jimmy Tibbs in London and spending time at MGM too. He wants to fight in the UK at the end of September and for the first time in his pro career at home in Ireland by the end of the year.

“Next year I have got my eye on Derry Mathews, Anthony Crolla, Steven Ormond and Terry Flanagan to name a few; there are more but these speak out above the rest,” he said “They are close to world title honours and I want that too!”

MGM Management are very pleased with their new signing, they said “We have followed Jamie through- out his career and know he has got what it takes, we are going to support him however we can and are very pleased to finally welcome him as part of the team.”

MGM are also pleased to announce the signing with Dublin ?s Jake Hanney the latest to sign up. He recently returned from Australia and 26-year old Hanney is looking forward to continuing his impressive pro career in Europe.

Before his move Down Under, he had over 130 amateur fights and won six National titles. Hanney also captained Ireland at youth and junior level around the world.

Hanney turned professional in Australia where he was unbeaten in 4 fights with 4 KOs. He also won a WBA Pan-Asian title at welterweight. He is hoping to get four more fights in before the end of the year to set him on track to breaking into the top 15 world ranking next year.

“It is brilliant to be signed to a great team; a top bunch of lads who I think can  get the best of me. I really think it is the best place for me, “ said Hanney. It is hoped that he will be fighting on 12th September in Preston on the Johnny Roye Show, Hanney wants a European title so that he can move onto the world stage.
