Lihaug and Havnaa handed September 12 outings

Sauerland 03/08/2015

Tim-Robin Lihaug (13-1, 8 KOs) and Kai Robin Havnaa (3-0, 2 KOs) return to action on September 12 in Frederikshavn. Following the summer break, the talented Norwegian duo will be looking to kick-start the second half of the year with victories at the Arena Nord.

Lihaug, who is undefeated in ten successive contests, has enjoyed a fine run of form as he seeks to establish himself as a serious super middleweight contender. In his last outing, the 22 year-old delivered a devastating left-hook to flatten domestic rival Arne Ernstsen at the Ballerup Super Arena in Copenhagen.

‘’That was a great win for me,’’ said Lihaug. ‘’The first couple of rounds were close, but I was expecting that. I knew he would come out strong, but after a couple of rounds, I began to loosen up and my experience took over. As soon as I caught him with that shot I knew the fight was over.’’

The victory was Lihaug’s second over a fellow Norwegian, after outpointing Simen Smaadal in an entertaining ten-round encounter in September 2014. Having cleaned up his domestic opposition, the WBO Youth Champion has now set his sights on world domination.

‘’I have proved again that I’m the best boxer in Norway and now I want to become the best in the world,’’ said the 22 year-old ‘’There is still a lot of work to be done, but if keep working hard and doing what I’m doing I believe I can become World Champion.’’

Lihaug will continue his charge to world glory on September 12 when he returns to the Arena Nord in Frederikshavn for the fifth time in his career.

‘’I always enjoy fighting in Frederikshavn,’’ said Lihaug. ‘’It’s like a second home to me now. There is always great support from the Norwegian fans and I look forward to putting on another entertaining performance on September 12.’’

Also on the card is undefeated cruiserweight prospect Kai Robin Havnaa who will be contesting his fourth paid bout. Following a six-month lay-off the Grimstad fighter welcomes a return to the ring as he eyes an active end to the year.

‘’I’m looking forward to fighting again,’’ said Havnaa. ‘’I’ve fought three times already in 2015 and would like another three fights before the year ends. At this stage of my career, I want to stay busy and gain as much experience as possible.’’

In preparation for his upcoming fight, the 27 year-old son of former WBO World Champion Magne Havnaa, will be returning to his Copenhagen to link up with star coach Joey Gamache.

‘’I return to Copenhagen this week where I’ll resume my training with Joey,” said Havnaa. ”He is great coach! I can’t wait to get back in the gym and continue my work with him. I’ve been pleased with my progress so far but I’m just taking it one fight at a time. At the moment all my focus is on September 12!’’

Opponents for Lihaug and Havnaa will be announced soon. The Norwegian duo join a stacked Nordic Fight Night card headlined by Danish rivals Patrick Nielsen (26-1, 12 KOs) and Rudy Markussen (38-3, 25 KOs) who will face tough international opposition ahead of potential grudge match later this year.
