Manny Pacquiao’s next fight may be in late-February or March next year, the Filipino star’s camp said this week.
Mike Koncz, the Canadian adviser of the 36-year-old congressman said that Pacquiao has been recovering well from the right shoulder operation he underwent four days after his megafight with Floyd Mayweather Jr.last May.
The rotator cuff injury has been healing very fast that Koncz said Pacquiao has been able to engage in some activities that require the use of his shoulder.
“We have actually sent videos of Manny’s activities to his doctor in the US,” said Koncz, referring to renowned orthopedic surgeon Neal El-Attrache, who performed the operation on the boxer on May 6 in Los Angeles.
Although Pacquiao is recovering sooner than expected, Koncz doesn’t think a fight towards the end of the year could be on the pipeline.
“It’ll be next year, late-February or March,” said Koncz.
Pacquiao re-injured his right shoulder in the fourth round against Mayweather and partly blamed the pain as a factor in his lopsided points loss to the unbeaten US fighter in their landmark bout that broke all existing records, including pay-per-view sales (4.5 million buys), gate receipt ($73 million) and sponsorships ($13 million).
