Former WBC welterweight champion Victor Ortiz was arrested by police for kicking a man at a Kenny Chesney concert over the weekend and released on $30,000 bail.
According to celebrity reporters TMZ, Ortiz and his brother were attending the event together at the Pasadena Rose Bowl Stadium when they became involved in an argument with a man which allegedly resulted in Ortiz, 28, kicking out.
Police then charged Ortiz for assault with a deadly weapon to face further action at a later date.
Ortiz is yet to fight this year after launching a semi-successful comeback to the sport on the back of an acting stint in ‘The Expendables 3’ – which was followed up by a role is this year’s hit boxing movie ‘Southpaw’ starring Jake Gyllenhaal.
A knockout defeat to New Yorker Luis Collazo upon his initial return preceded a victory over Manuel Perez in December 2014 and Ortiz has since been linked to fights against higher profile opposition after getting back to winning ways following three losses.
The first of that trio was to pound for pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr in 2011 when Ortiz was controversially stopped in four rounds, although the Californiian did look considerably out of his depth against the world’s best before the fight ended.
