Following the unfortunate cancellation of the European featherweight title fight between Ruddy Encarnacion and Sofiane Takoucht in Madrid this week, Cyclone Promotions are happy to announce that Belfast Featherweight contender Marc McCullough will now box Hungary’s durable Zoltan Kovacs in Bielefeld, Germany on Thursday the 30th of July.
McCullough, the WBO World number four ranked featherweight, was due to feature in the chief support bout to Spain’s Ruddy Encarnacion’s European (EBU) featherweight title challenge at the Palacio de Vistalegre in Madrid tonight (Friday the 24th ). But with that show being pulled at the last minute due to promotional issues, McCullough now co-headlines in the German city of Bielefeld this coming Thursday in a ten-round contest against the aforementioned Kovacs.
The twenty-two year old Zoltan ‘Caramel’ Kovacs is well known to British fight fans having taken London’s super featherweight prospect Mitchell Smith the ten-round distance in November of last year. The Hungarian will be travelling to the picturesque German city of Bielefeld intent on ruining McCullough’s title hopes.
Shankill Road man McCullough, 12 (8) – 1, is scheduled to box for major honours later this year. Cyclone Promotions have big plans for McCullough should he successfully negotiate the tough Kovacs, with two championship fights planned for ‘Marco’ before the end of 2015.
The SSL Sport and Event Promotion show at the Sportpalast in Bielefeld will also feature another Cyclone Promotions featherweight talent in Josh ‘The Punisher’ Pritchard. The undefeated Pritchard, 2 – 0, takes on former Carl Frampton victim Ignac Kassai in a four-round featherweight contest.
