The WBC super middleweight title clash between champion Badou Jack and mandatory challenger George Groves is set to move from its original date of August 22 and be a part of the forthcoming Floyd Mayweather event on CBS three weeks later.
Jack and Groves are both hard at work preparing for the clash but will now have to rework their scheduled to meet the new fight date of September 12. An official announcement on who Mayweather will fight, along with the co-feature world title bout is set to be confirmed in the next few days.
A rematch between Darleys Perez and Anthony Crolla is eyed for the same venue in Manchester before the end of the year. WBA lightweight title holder Perez and Crolla battled to a draw last weekend at Manchester Arena, although both sides say they should have been awarded the decision.
Crolla has now told Sky Sports that he is hopeful that the fight can be secured by promoter Eddie Hearn in the coming weeks.
The undercard of the featherweight bout between Abner Mares and Leo Santa Cruz on August 29 has a new addition as Hugo Ruiz and Julio Ceja collide for the interim WBC super bantamweight title at the Staples Center.
Whoever comes out on top may well be handed the full title currently in the possession of Santa Cruz as the Mexican is likely to move up in the aftermath of his clash with Mares.
