Steve Wood presents a really good domestic crossroads fight as up and coming Scouser Andy Colquhoun takes on the experienced and classy David Barnes on home turf at the Liverpool Olympia this Saturday.

‘Barnesy’ has been there, seen it and done it in British boxing and is looking to have an Indian summer in his career as he sets his sight on British and European titles this year. The extremely talented Mancunian believes he is a step too far for the undefeated Colquhoun.

Colquhoun, who is undefeated as a professional, takes the biggest step up of his career as he looks to show he is ready for the best on the domestic scene. A giant at the weight will be looking to show off the improvements he has made under coaches Jamie Moore and Nigel Travis.

The fight is a British Light Welterweight Title eliminator which will be contested between two fighters who are very good at the weight and may prove to be a big turning point in both fighters careers. Barnes will be out to prove he still has a lot to give in boxing and Colquhoun will be expecting to show that he is ready for anyone on the British scene.

This fight is shaping up to be a small hall classic.

Tickets are still available for the show on Saturday night at the Liverpool Olympia. Amateur boxers with medical cards can enter for £5.
