Marco Huck eager to scratch itch in his fists

The reigning WBOSuperChampion has been in his Las Vegas based training camp since the end of June, in order to get in shape for the mandatory challenger Krzysztof Glowacki (24-0, 15 KOs). Huck will take on the Pole at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on August 14, almost a year after his last outing.

“It has been a long period”, said Huck when asked about the time outside of the squared circle.

“I have had that itch in my fists for months now.” Hence the 30-year-old is over the moon that sparring began last week.

“I got back into the ring last Monday and am finally back doing what I do best, beating opponents from pillar to post.” But anyone thinking that the first few sessions would see Huck easing back into his rhythm was mistaken. “I am actually a bit surprised myself. I started where I left off at last year. No one would think that almost a year has passed since I stood in the boxing ring.”

Don House, the new coach taking charge of Huck’s corner was also pleasantly surprised by the performance of his new prodigy.

“Marco is in great shape” according to House. “He really impressed me with his stamina but I couldn’t believe how strong he was at sparring, given the fact he hasn’t put his hands on someone for quite some time. Judging by his current form you would think that he had had at least two fights since the beginning of the year. For now I am going to have to look for more sparring partners.”
