Wladimir Klitschko took a verbal battering from Tyson Fury on Tuesday as the pair talked up their October 24 world heavyweight title contest in Dusseldorf, Germany.
The 40 year-old was his usual epitome of cool, although Fury made sure the Ukrainian heard every word as he looked the champion in the eye and promised to take his titles.
Fury, 26, had some choice phrases for ‘Dr Steelhammer’ as the gathered media looked on and outlined that he will become the next ruler of the division.
“I believe he has never faced a challenge like me ever before and I don’t believe he will ever face a challenge like me again,” said Fury.
“There’s never been anyone like me in history and a fighter like me only comes along once every thousand years.”
Gazing directly at Klitschko sitting just a few feet away, Fury intensified his onslaught: “It’s a personal mission for me to rid boxing of a boring person like you.
“I was falling asleep listening to you. I’m not interested in all the titles you’ve got there. I’m interested in breaking your face in. You’re boring and want rid of you out of the heavyweight division with your jab and grab style.
“Surely all of Europe wants to see you get beaten and all of Europe and the rest of the world will see you get beaten.
“You have as much charisma as my underpants – zero. You are nothing and you’re getting knocked out!”
Veteran Klitschko, who says he only has five fights or so left following a stellar career, is sure Fury fully intends to back up his confidence once the first bell rings at the ESPRIT Arena.
“I believe Tyson Fury really means what he is talking about and he is definitely not coming here on October 24 just to be present and then be on the canvas. He came here to win the championship,” said Klitschko.
