Walsall’s Luke Paddock will make a maiden defence of his Midlands Area Light Welterweight Title against Stoke’s Andy Keates at the start of the new boxing season.

The Bloxwich boxer faces Keates at his hometown football club, Walsall FC, on Friday, 4th September. Paddock lifted the belt back in December when he was a convincing winner against fellow undefeated fighter, Josh McLaren, in Burslem.

“It’s a fight I’m already looking forward to,” said Saddlers-supporting Paddock. “It seems like a long time since I won the belt and I can’t wait to defend it in my hometown, at my football club.”

It’s a fight that Keates, a stablemate of McLaren, is also relishing.

“I like Luke, he’s a nice boxer,” added the Stoke man. “He doesn’t like pressure though and that’s what he’s going to get. I beat him as an amateur and I plan on beating him as a pro.”

Paddock and Keates headline Black Country Boxing’s four-fight card in the Stadium Suite. Old Hill Lightweight, Manny Zaber, Gloucester light heavyweight, Scott Gibbins Jr, and Ludlow light middleweight, Craig Morris, also feature.

Tickets are priced at £50 to include three-course meal – available by calling 01922 651 414 – or £30 standard and £40 stage ringside – available by calling 07881 376 512.
