The success of Team MGM continued on Saturday night across in Rotherham, UK where Navid Mansouri was defending his English light middleweight title. He was up against the formerly undefeated Sam Sheedy.
It was a closely fought fight and the pair fought valiantly to the end, Mansouri was rewarded the win by a split decision from the judges at the Magna Centre in his home town of Rotherham.
His hard work and training had paid off, as the 10 rounds progressed he grew stronger and more precise.
“It was a great fight,” said Mansouri. “I expected it to be easier, but Sam showed a lot of heart. I really enjoyed myself”.
This was Mansouri’s first fight under MGM Management and they were thrilled to be able to celebrate yet another win for Team MGM.
We can safely say that Saturday night’s New Beginning was a success; not just on a personal level for all of MGM’s fighters, not just for Team MGM and not just for MGM Promotions. It was a night to remember and it put boxing back in the headlines in the home of boxing.
There were many highlights, not to mention Jamie Conlan’s fight back to retain his WBO Intercontinental super-flyweight title and both Declan Geraghty and Michael Rooney won with a KO. What more could we have asked for?
“We would like to thank Frank Warren and Queensberry promotions, BoxNation, the BUI and everyone at the National Stadium,” said MGM Promotions “It was a brilliant success and a real team effort”.
Needless to say, New Beginning was just the beginning for MGM Promotions; boxing just came back to Dublin and there will be more to come….
