Peter Fury backs Eddie Chambers to shine after Al Haymon switch

One of the subjects covered was the fact that former Team Fury member Eddie Chambers has now moved back to the US to join Al Haymon’s Premier Boxing Champions and typically, Peter wished the heavyweight contender all the best before backing the American for big things.

“Eddie Chambers needed to move on with his career as he just wasn’t getting the fights,” Fury explained to World Boxing News.

“He had five fights in the UK and we helped prepare him for the next step. He’s ready to take it and we are delighted that he can now do that with Al Haymon’s Premier Boxing Champions.

“Eddie is in better shape to do it as he already had the skills, but now he has the power to go with it. Eddie Chambers is a world-class fighter and I expect him prove that now with some big fights in the US.

“We wish Eddie all the best and it was a pleasure to have had him as part of our team,” he added.

Chambers, 33, stopped four of his opponents on UK soil following back-to-back losses at cruiserweight and Fury is adamant that ‘Fast Eddie’ is now a fully-built top division machine and is ready to take on the world’s best.

“Eddie is weighing around 15 stone 10 right now and is superb shape. He should never go back to cruiserweight and I believe he can make a real impact at heavyweight.

“I’m sure once he gets those big opponents in the states you will see the best Eddie Chambers,” said Fury.
