Liverpool results from the Echo Arena:
Callum Smith was made to work hard by tough Frenchman Christopher Rebrasse before seeing out a unanimous points win in his hometown.
The 25 year-old faced his most difficult test yet and during the mid-rounds was clearly not in a comfortable place.
Smith’s left hook to the body was the decisive punch all night though and was a telling factor as Rebrasse fell to the floor in the tenth.
Judges scorecards read a surprising 120-107 on one card, although the other officials scoring 118-110 was much more respectful to Rebrasse.
In the co-feature, Rocky Fielding produced a career-best display to stop hardened American Bryan Vera in just two rounds.
Beforehand, it was predicted that the fight could be a barnstormer and go the duration, although Fielding caught Vera early and capitalized to finish the job.
Big-hitting cruiserweight Tony Bellew came through a stubborn Ivica Bacurin to take victory in what was effectively a warm-up for an imminent world title shot.
‘The Bomber’ dropped Bacurin three times in the contest and looked on his way to a wide points win when referee Steve Gray decided to end the contest in the final round.
A chance to challenge IBF title holder Yoan Pablo Hernandez now looms large for Bellew, provided that the talented Cuban wins his upcoming defence in Argentina.
Tommy Martin came through a cracking fight against Terry Needham with a seventh rounds stoppage to move to 12-0 just prior to Martin Murray easily taking out George Beroshvili in two rounds to make a successful debut at 168lbs.
Callum Johnson took every round of four from Tzvetozar Iliev as the light heavyweight made it to 13-0 with minimal fuss, whilst Joe Tonks picked himself up off the canvas to score a decision win over Sam Sharpe and Tom Doran halted Mike Byles in five to push to 15 straight wins.
In the opener, Marcus Morrison stopped Nodar Robakidze in the very first round and is now 5-0, before Tom Farrell also stayed unbeaten with a second-round victory over Radoslav Mitev.
