July 4 opponents named for Rooney, Fitzgerald, Burnett and ‘Big Sexy’

With just over a week to go, the much-awaited opponents for the 4th of July show in Dublin are slowly being announced.

MGM’s Michael Rooney is looking to maintain his undefeated record in his 8th professional fight against Janis Puksins. The Latvian, on the other hand, who was only in the ring last weekend has a lot to prove. Although he is a seasoned fighter, he is looking to add another win to his professional career.

Meanwhile, Sean “Big Sexy” Turner is set to fight Janis Ginters for his 5th professional fight. The Irish Heavyweight will be looking to put his explosive punches to work next month against the experienced 30 year-old Latvian. It will, however, be Ginter’s first fight in Ireland and Turner will be sure to use the home crowd to his advantage.

We can also confirm that MGM’s Anthony Fitzgerald will be taking on Kieron Gray in an 8-round bout. “The Pride of Dublin” Fitzgerald will be back at the National Stadium for the first time since 2011 and will be looking for a maiden win at Light middleweight.Former British Masters Bronze Super-middleweight Kieron Gray has had 3 fights in as many weeks and is also looking to get back to challenging some titles.

Hard-hitting Ryan Burnett is up against Csaba Kovacs in another 8-round match. He will be defending his undefeated record and will be hoping to improve on his already impressive KO rate of 77.8%. Romanian-born Kovacs will be fighting for the first time in Ireland in what is his 13th pro fight.
